Call ahead and book your reservation by calling 815.875.2184. Tours are available Wednesday through Saturday, Noon until 5:00pm and begin at the Newell/Bryant home. Final tour of the day begins at 4:00pm and lasts approximately an hour. There are only two scheduled tours on Saturday at 2:00pm and 4:00pm.

Membership includes free tours.
Adults: $5.00, Children (15 and younger) $3.00, Active Duty Military Personnel are welcomed as our guests.
Advanced reservations are encouraged so we can adjust volunteer docent staffing.
Permanent exhibits include Native American artifacts, Lincoln and Civil War room, Bureau County Military History and Veterans displays, Cherry Mine Disaster, and historic home furnishings.
The Historical Society Research Library is located in the Newell-Bryant House. References include countywide: towns, churches, schools, cemeteries, civil war, coal mining, railroads, and many other topics. Library had copy machine and scanning services available. You may send correspondence requests through the CONTACT BCHS tab.
