Call ahead and book your reservation by calling 815.875.2184. Tours are available at 1:00pm and 3:00pm Wednesday through Saturday and begin at the Newell/Bryant home. All tours last approximately an hour.
We are currently featuring “Getting to Know Grace” at the Clark/ Norris Museum. This is a new exhibit, featuring of one of Bureau County’s philanthropists, will give patrons an intimate look at Grace Clark Norris and her family.
Membership includes free tours.
Suggested donations for tours:
Adults: $5.00, Children (15 and younger) and Seniors: $3.00, Active Duty Military Personnel are welcomed as our guests.
Advanced reservations are encouraged so we can adjust volunteer docent staffing.
Permanent exhibits include Native American artifacts, Lincoln and Civil War room, Bureau County Military History and Veterans displays, Cherry Mine Disaster, and historic home furnishings.

Research
The Historical Society Research Library is located in the Newell-Bryant House. References include countywide: towns, churches, schools, cemeteries, civil war, coal mining, railroads, and many other topics. Library had copy machine and scanning services available. You may send correspondence requests through the CONTACT BCHS tab.
